EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES POLICY

INTRODUCTION

The Charlton Marshall Village Hall is an organisation committed to fairness, equality and diversity in an environment free of discrimination and harassment that is enacted by its management committee, trustees, volunteers, staff and contractors.

  1. EQUAL TREATMENT

All management committee members, trustees, volunteers, staff and contractors, hirers and potential hirers will receive equal treatment regardless of gender, colour, religion, religious belief, nationality, ethnic origin, age, marital status, disability or political beliefs.

2. RESPONSIBILITY

  • All management committee members, trustees, volunteers, staff and contractors have a personal responsibility for the application of this policy towards each other and to all hirers and members of the public using this facility.
  • Those management committee members and trustees who have direct contact with volunteers, staff, contractors and hirers have a special responsibility to make sure that this policy is adhered to and must act at all times in an indiscriminative way with everybody using the Village Hall, be they hirers, visitors, staff or contractors, or other management committee members and trustees.

3. COMPLAINTS

Anybody who feels they have been discriminated against or unfairly treated and wishes to make a complaint, should bring the matter to the attention of the Secretary in the first instance.  A complaints form can be found and downloaded from the Village Hall website www.charltonmarshallvillagehall.wordpress.com or can be obtained by contacting the Secretary, Chairman or Treasurer.  The management committee takes every complaint seriously and will treat every complaint with respect and courtesy.

The full procedure for making a complaint is set out in the Village Hall’s Complaints Policy.

4. NOTIFICATION TO VILLAGE HALL USERS

The management committee will ensure that all users of the Village Hall are aware of this policy by displaying same on the Village Hall notice board, the website and by issuing a copy to all users as and when required.  The policy will be monitored for correctness and effectiveness on an annual basis by the management committee.

5. TRAINING

The management committee will make sure that training is given to ensure all necessary procedures are in place and will have the commitment to deal with any issues arising.
